2018 Annual Chapter Meeting and Education
Pour Don’t Push:
Do you realize halfway through the session that you’ve forgotten your client’s name? Do your forearms (or shoulders, or back, or thumbs) ache after a day’s work? Do you feel like you are working really hard, but not doing enough for your clients? Let me help. There are many different problems that we have to face as massage therapists, but there is one solution that can help nearly all of them. We need to pay more attention to ourselves as we take care of our clients. In this workshop, we will explore our two most powerful – and most often forgotten – tools: our breath and our body weight. We will apply principles of Tai Chi, mindfulness meditation, and new pain science, in order to relearn our most effective skills. No matter what kind of work you do – from Reiki to myofascial release, and everything in between – you’ll be able to work more easily, and more effectively. When you pour with your body weight, rather than push with those tired muscles, and when you utilize your own breath and your client’s breath, you will work more easily and more happily. Your career and your clients will thank you.
